Why People Travel

Traveling is the habitual movement of individuals between far distant geographical positions. Travel can generally be done by car, bike, foot, bus, train, plane, boat or any other mode, with or without gear, and is usually one-way or round trip. The word “travel” comes from the Latin word, travels, used to describe a person’s movement across region or country. The earliest form of the verb that we use today in order to describe traveling is “travell”, from the French word travel, meaning “to go”. Thus, for example, the sentence “Joe was travelling today across the state”.

TRAVELLING

Traveling generally involves leaving and coming to a destination, but can also mean traveling from one place to another. A common example is when a tourist travels from London, England, to Paris, France. Traveling in the same direction requires the same amount of resources. However, some destinations offer travelers more attractions to see, such as the Grand Canyon or the Caribbean, which require more traveling time. Therefore, when people are traveling from one place to another, they will usually experience the same amount of happiness or sadness, depending on what they want to see or do.

There are different ways that people travel. Most of them use road: they go from point A to point B. However, some people prefer to take a train, tram, or boat. If a group of young people want to travel to a faraway place, it would be better to travel in groups; for instance, if a group of school students wish to visit Paris, France, for their summer vacation, all they have to do is rent a car and head towards their destination together. When a single person travels alone, he/she experiences solitude, and the freedom to see new places without having to depend on anyone else, making it a unique experience.

The main reason why people travel is to experience the new culture. Travelling allows people to see different cultures. Whether a person is travelling to a faraway place to spend his/her summer vacation, or if it’s for the purpose of studying a new language, travelling gives the individual a chance to learn a lot from the people they meet along the way. Furthermore, when travellers board a plane, they arrive into a new environment, one that is new to them.

Another reason why people travel is to find love. Whether travelling to Europe for an engagement or wedding, or going to another city to find friendship or romance, people experience love every time they look at their destination. In fact, travelling brings out the feelings in people; they begin to have visions of the places they are travelling to and the people they meet along the way. For example, when someone boards a plane to travel to Spain, she/he witnesses different meanings of the same word, ” Madrid”, and experiences the different emotions associated with those words.

It is a common misconception that travelling should be confined to a single place. However, that is not the case. Travelling opens up your world because travelling allows you to see different aspects of life in different places. Therefore, the next time you board a plane for a trip, take note of the sights, sounds and tastes of the people you meet on the flight. You will be surprised at how differently your perspective on things will change once you get off the plane.
